Review: Morning Meltdown 100

When I first heard about Beach Body’s newest program Morning Meltdown 100, I had just completed Transform:20 through Beach Body On Demand. After completing that high-intensity, high-impact Shaun T program, I remembered my love for Beach Body workouts and why they work so well. I decided to sign on as a coach (admittedly, only to get the product discount) and embark on my new workout program!

Morning Meltdown 100, or MM100, is a 100-workout fitness program led by fitness trainer Jericho McMatthews. Each of the 100 workouts was unique, so you never repeat a workout. Although 100 workouts sounded like a daunting task, I was ready to embrace the challenge. My “completion pack” came with a wall calendar, so I had a visual representation to keep me motivated to complete all 100 workouts. There were options to double up on workouts, or skip days, but the workouts were meant to be done in the morning as part of your daily routine. Even though it was tiring at first, I made a point to set an alarm to wake up an hour before my kids and work out every single day. The program also came with a journal, so each day I wrote about my progress, my level of motivation, and my commitment to the next day’s workout. Keeping promises to myself really kept me on track! It also helped that my best friend (and coach) was doing the program right alongside me, encouraging me every step of the way.

The program is great for all fitness levels. I’d classify myself as beginner/intermediate when I first started the program. There were two “modifiers” in every workout, so if any one move was too challenging, I could easily follow a modifier track instead. The workouts were 20-30 minutes in length, and the themes were Cardio Meltdown, Upbeat Strength, Core Inferno, Total Body Badass, Freestyle Flow, LIT Cardio, Downbeat Strength, Fight Club, MeltCon, and Re-Vibe. With all the different workout styles, I was never bored! Each workout presented its own challenges and inspired me to do better each time.

Surprisingly, one of my favorite workouts was Fight Club. The martial arts-inspired workouts were fun, fast-paced, and interesting. The added level of intensity and aggression motivated me to become stronger and faster. One of the more challenging workouts was Core Inferno, because my core strength was pretty bad after having my second baby. By the end of the program, I could actually feel my abs again, for the first time in years! Cycling through the different workout styles, coupled with the fact that there was a live DJ on every workout, made the program fun and exciting.

The way the workouts were set up are as follows:

  • 5 Phases.
  • 20 workouts per phase.
  • The first 10 workouts of every phase built up to the more challenging second 10 workouts of each phase.
  • The 100th workout was an hour-long celebration of each of the different workout styles! It was a challenge for sure.

Each day, participants were also encouraged to fill out their daily journal for motivation and tracking. After each 20-workout phase, you were instructed to record your weight and body measurements, and even paste a progress picture! There were also motivating and inspiring journal prompts on many of the pages. One day, I’ll go back and read how my mindset and motivation truly changed over those 100 workouts.

In the end, my weight and measurements didn’t matter to me half as much as how my mindset changed. Over the course of the program, I learned just how strong I was, mentally and physically. Getting up early in the morning to set my intention for the day, read, and work out wasn’t easy, but it soon became a cherished part of my daily routine. Even though I didn’t drop an astronomical number of pounds or inches, my progress photos clearly show that I am thinner, leaner, and more muscular than I was before I started the program.

Overall, I’d recommend this program to anyone who is looking to shake up their workout routine! Aside from a few hotel workouts, I did each workout from the comfort of my own home, with my crazy kids often running in circles around me. That goes to show that their truly are no excuses – anyone can find time to work out, even busy moms! Because of the two modifiers in every workout, this program is great for beginners and anyone starting their fitness journey. On the other hand, it also presents a huge challenge even to experienced, fit people. There were certain moves that I still couldn’t master, even after 100 workouts, so I could definitely return to this program in the future if I’m up for the challenge again!

Beach Body workouts are truly worth the price, because the quality is unbeatable. If you’re looking for a fun, exciting, motivating kickstart to your fitness routine, Morning Meltdown 100 is for you!
